The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, accompanied by the municipal delegate for Environment, Carmen Pozo, attended the event, which delved into the importance of the issue affecting the Guadalquivir and several riverside towns.
The association 'Salvemos el Guadalquivir' informed the mayor about a demonstration planned in Seville for Saturday, October 17. This meeting is part of a series of contacts with involved town councils such as Trebujena, Chipiona, Coria del Río, Lebrija, and Los Palacios.
The demonstration aims to unite various entities to demand a moratorium on the announced mining discharges into the estuary and the creation of an expert commission to assess risks and propose measures to protect the river's health.
The mayor reaffirmed the firm position of the Sanlúcar City Council in defense of the Guadalquivir, recalling actions such as the complaint filed with the Environmental Prosecutor's Office and the allegations submitted regarding the Aznalcóllar mines project.
