The Chipiona Local Police, through its Road Safety department, has informed citizens about new traffic rules set to take effect on October 1st, 2026. These provisions will affect personal mobility devices (such as electric scooters), bicycles, motorcycles, and mopeds.
Driven by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), the new measures aim to enhance road safety and foster a safer coexistence among drivers, pedestrians, and users of various mobility means, as reported by the Local Police.
Among the most significant changes is the mandatory use of a helmet for electric scooter riders and other personal mobility device users. Furthermore, these vehicles will be prohibited from circulating on sidewalks and pedestrian areas, with a minimum age of 15 years set for their operation.
The new regulation, as explained by the Local Police, also introduces changes for motorcycle and moped users, who must wear closed-toe footwear while riding. Cyclists and Personal Mobility Vehicle users will be required to use reflective clothing or luminous elements when riding at night or in conditions of reduced visibility.
Additionally, helmet use will remain mandatory for cyclists under 16 years of age and for those engaged in professional activities.
The Chipiona Local Police emphasizes that these measures are primarily intended to reduce accidents and ensure safer, more orderly traffic on public roads. The municipal force calls for responsibility from all road users, recommending they familiarize themselves with and comply with the new regulations before their enforcement.
