The local administration in Mijas has made a significant investment of 2,673,000 euros to update the contracts covering all municipal sports services. This initiative ensures the job continuity of 106 instructors, who are subrogated from the previous season and resume their duties this Wednesday, October 7th, for a period of one natural year.
As detailed by the Councilor for Sports, Mari Francis Alarcón, these services are utilized by a community of over 6,000 residents. The contract has been structured into two main lots: one focused on swimming instruction and lifeguard duties, awarded to the company Serveo for an amount of 638,139 euros; and another lot, designated for instructors across various sports disciplines, as well as concierge and maintenance staff, which has been assigned to Choosing Big for 2,034,909 euros.
The municipal sports offering is extensive and includes disciplines such as swimming, pilates, aerobics, toning, spinning, table tennis, tennis, badminton, Zumba, basketball, handball, football, gym training, athletics, hippotherapy, adapted sports, activities for the elderly, karate, and judo.
The facilities where these activities are provided are distributed across several key points in the municipality, including the Antonio Márquez football field in Osunillas, the gym in Mijas Pueblo, the covered pavilion in Osunillas, the tennis court in Osunillas, and the municipal pool in Osunillas. Additionally, facilities in La Cala are utilized, such as its football field, covered pavilion, and culture and sports center, along with its tennis court and indoor pool. The sports city of Las Lagunas, with its outdoor and indoor areas, and the covered pavilion of Las Cañadas complete the network of sports venues.
