The Secretary of Education for the PSOE of Andalusia has signed a document before the families of Manilva, detailing the need for new educational infrastructure. According to the party, IES Las Viñas, designed for 700 students, currently accommodates over 1,400, far exceeding its original capacity.
This commitment arises in a context of sustained demographic growth in the municipality and the lack of adequate infrastructure to ensure quality public education. The party has indicated that there are repeated social, institutional, and educational demands calling for the urgent construction of a new center.
“"Public education deserves planning, investment, and real commitment, and that is precisely what the PSOE is doing today by signing this document."
The document states that the PSOE commits to executing the works for the new high school during the 2026-2030 legislative period. This includes project approval, necessary budget allocation, and the effective start of works within the corresponding administrative deadlines. Furthermore, the construction of the new center will be prioritized within the infrastructure planning of the competent department, and transparency will be guaranteed, with periodic updates provided to the educational community, the City Council, and the AMPAs of the municipality regarding administrative, technical, and budgetary progress.
The party has also assured that it will maintain this commitment regardless of pacts, agreements, or changes in the composition of the regional government, ensuring that Manilva's educational needs are not subject to political negotiations. Additionally, the municipality's educational emergency situation will be formally recognized, promoting necessary measures to prevent current overcrowding from continuing to affect students.
