Diego Tristán will continue to lead Córdoba CF B for at least one more season. The club confirmed the coach's contract extension until 2027 this Saturday via their social media channels.
The former player, who took the reins of the reserve team in the final stretch of last season, will remain in charge of the team in Group X of Tercera Federación after their notable performance in the final league matches.
The decision to back Tristán is supported by the results achieved. Since his arrival, Córdoba B secured a record of four wins and one draw in the five games played, scoring ten goals and conceding only two. These numbers allowed the reserve team to react at a critical moment and have convinced the club to continue with the project.
“"From Córdoba CF, we celebrate Diego Tristán's continuity and wish him the greatest success in his time leading Córdoba B."
Tristán's appointment to the bench occurred in April, following the decision by the Córdoba leadership to end Gaspar Gálvez's tenure, with five matchdays remaining in the competition. The reserve team was in relegation positions to División de Honor Sénior, and the club sought an immediate impact to attempt to secure permanence.
The sporting direction then opted for Diego Tristán to turn the situation around, and the results ultimately validated the decision. Now, the coach will have the opportunity to start a project from the beginning of the season and continue consolidating the reserve team in Tercera Federación.
The legendary former player has six seasons of experience as coach of Atlético Algabeño in División de Honor Andaluza. Additionally, he coached CD Inter Sevilla in Tercera Federación last season. Earlier, in October, Córdoba CF signed him as a specific striker coach for youth categories, and a month later he took over the Cadete team.
