The Port Authority of Almería (APA), along with the General Directorate of Merchant Marine and Puertos del Estado, has held a follow-up meeting for the relocation of the Maritime Captaincy of Almería and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center. These services will move to the second floor of the Border Control Post (PCF) building at the Port of Almería.
This agreement, which enables the integration of the administrative building and the Rescue tower within the port-city project, is the result of coordination and institutional collaboration initiated in January 2024 and formalized with an agreement signed in February 2026. The relocation is expected to be completed from June 2027 onwards.
The new facilities, located on the second floor of the PCF, are currently open-plan and will be adapted to house the premises for both organizations, with separate entrances. The APA has also reserved 30 parking spaces for the staff.
The Port Authority of Almería is responsible for the adaptation and equipping of the floor, with an estimated investment of 2.4 million euros. The execution project, managed by the state company TRAGSA, has a 13-month completion period. Once the work is received, Maritime Captaincy and Maritime Rescue will have a maximum of 3 months to move.
