The Auditorium of the University of Almería has been the venue for the inauguration of the XIX Congress of Methodology of Social and Health Sciences, an event commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Behavioral Sciences Methodology area and gathering over 200 experts.

The Auditorium of the University of Almería hosted the official inauguration of the XIX Congress of Methodology of Social and Health Sciences. This event, organized with the Spanish Association of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences (AEMCCO), takes place at the Faculty of Psychology until July 9th, serving as a meeting point to disseminate the latest scientific advances.
This year's edition is particularly significant as it commemorates the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Methodology Area of Behavioral Sciences in the Spanish university system. The opening ceremony was attended by the rector of the University of Almería, José J. Céspedes, who highlighted the opportunity to hear from leading national and international figures in artificial intelligence and human intelligence studies, such as Pedro Larrañaga and Roberto Colom.
The congress brings together over 200 participants from 35 Spanish, Ibero-American, and European universities, who will present more than 230 scientific proposals. Rector Céspedes emphasized the historical tradition of this discipline in Almería, dating back to the early days of Psychology at UAL.
Juan García, president of the Organizing Committee, expressed his pride in hosting the congress for the first time in Almería for its 19th edition and to celebrate the 40th anniversary. He noted the excellent reception with 220 registered attendees and over 230 scientific proposals, highlighting the dual venue at the campus and the Edificio de las Mariposas.
Nekane Balluerka, president of AEMCCO, stressed the crucial contribution of the Behavioral Sciences Methodology field to rigorous research and the generation of scientific evidence in response to societal demands.
Mercedes Fernández, dean of the Faculty of Psychology, stated that the congress provides a fitting conclusion to the academic year, complementing the faculty's discussions on AI by incorporating researchers' contributions. She emphasized Almería's central role during the event and the importance of methodological rigor.
Antonio Casimiro, councilor for Active City, Urban Mobility, and Sport, welcomed attendees, underscoring the strengthening relationship between the Almería City Council and the University of Almería, and their shared vision of a city prioritizing knowledge, research, and innovation.
Ángel Escobar, vice-president of the Provincial Council of Almería, expressed his honor that the province is hosting this congress for the first time, congratulating the University of Almería and the organizing committee for placing the region on the scientific research map.
