The Paseo de la Velada Theatre will be the venue for the III Rociero Choirs Contest “Ciudad de La Línea” on Saturday, July 11th, at 9:00 PM. This event, dedicated to children's and youth choirs, was presented this morning with the presence of the delegate councilor for Festivals, Mercedes Atanet, and the Senior Brother of the Brotherhood of Rocío of La Línea, Isidoro López.
Mercedes Atanet highlighted the Brotherhood's work in organizing such events, which help keep Rociero traditions alive among young people. She also thanked the Provincial Council of Cádiz and the Culture delegation for providing the Paseo de la Velada theatre, expressing confidence in the contest's success.
An attendance of between 300 and 400 people from various parts of Andalusia is expected, which the Councilor for Festivals considers an additional attraction for the city, inviting visitors to enjoy "our Authentic Línea".
For his part, Isidoro López reiterated his gratitude to the Provincial Council of Cádiz for its sponsorship, which is essential for holding the event, and to the Tourism delegation for organizing a guided tour for the participants. López emphasized the importance of the contest's continuity in fostering devotion to the Virgen del Rocío among youth, noting that the Brotherhood has approximately one thousand members, of whom 25% are under 22 years old.
The choirs confirmed for the contest include the Hermandad Matriz de Almonte, the choirs from the brotherhoods of Sanlúcar and Jerez de la Frontera (considered the oldest in the province of Cádiz), the choir from Fuengirola, the choir from San Roque, and the choirs (children's and adult) from La Línea de la Concepción.
The show promises to feature the voices of the new Rociero generations, preserving a tradition rich in sentiment and culture. A 'row 0' has also been set up for those who wish to contribute philanthropically, with all proceeds going to a charity fund.
