This spot, considered one of Cadiz's best-kept secrets, forms at low tide when seawater becomes trapped in natural rock formations along the shoreline. Its warm, calm waters are perfect for cooling off and enjoying a moment of peace.
Beyond their natural beauty, these pools offer a unique wellness experience. The slate-derived clay found at the bottom of the pools is used by many bathers as a natural, mineral-rich mask, known for its anti-aging and detoxifying properties.
Situated directly in front of the Baelo Claudia Roman ruins, discovered in 1917, the site allows visitors to combine a relaxing day out with a touch of history. This archaeological site is one of the best-preserved in Spain, featuring an amphitheater, basilica, and aqueduct that transport visitors to life in Roman Hispania.
Accessible only on foot, these pools are typically quieter than the nearby Bolonia Beach. To reach them, park at the beach car park and walk approximately 50 minutes east towards Tarifa. It is essential to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and suitable footwear for the walk.
