The distinction, awarded by the Association of Environmental Education and Consumerism (ADEAC), certifies the quality of the facilities and their sustainable commitment. The renewal of this award follows the successful technical evaluation by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), solidifying the infrastructure as a nautical benchmark in Andalusia.
The ceremony was attended by the mayor of La Línea de la Concepción, Juan Franco, accompanied by the Councilor for the Environment, Raquel Ñeco, the port director, Antonio Valbuena, and the deputy director, Juan José Ruiz, as well as representatives from security forces.
Mayor Juan Franco highlighted the importance of these facilities for the municipality, stating they are "a business example, a benchmark in tourism, job creation, and sustainability that meets all required standards".
For his part, port director Antonio Valbuena reported that the facilities have also renewed the European five anchors recognition, equivalent to the highest hotel category, which assesses service quality and environmental care.
Deputy director Juan José Ruiz thanked the recognition that rewards the staff's daily efforts in sustainability standards. Councilor Raquel Ñeco congratulated the entity for its track record, noting that "it is truly impressive that the port is 16 years old and has 15 Blue Flags, demonstrating clear good practices and responsibility, in addition to being an essential tourist and economic engine for La Línea".
The event concluded with the announcement of the upcoming opening of the first phase of the port's new commercial area in November, which currently has 95% of its surface area signed and will mark a new stage of development for the city and the Campo de Gibraltar.
