The meeting brought together representatives of workers, social agents, and institutions with the goal of reaching a shared position on the challenge of ensuring adequate funding for dependency care. The aim is to achieve sufficient, stable, predictable, and updatable financing.
Participants included the city's mayor, Juan Franco, and the deputy mayor for Social Affairs, Zuleica Molina, along with the general coordinator of Asansull, Ismael Vaca. Also present were legal representatives of workers from Asansull and the Special Employment Center Asansull, the CCOO union section of the Home Help company committee, and the entity's board of directors. The UGT union section excused their attendance.
The objective is to achieve a consensus that can be jointly presented to the Regional Government of Andalusia and the Spanish Government, taking into account the actual evolution of service costs. Ismael Vaca emphasized the need to improve funding for all existing dependency resources, including Day Centers and residences for the elderly, Day Centers for people with disabilities, Early Childhood Intervention Centers, and the Home Help Service.
Vaca also urged the Regional Government and the National Government to proceed with a comprehensive reform of the dependency system, which would provide more resources for the care of individuals, exceeding 2,000 in the case of the Home Help Service in La Línea.
For his part, Mayor Juan Franco shared the arguments presented by the Board, confirming that the City Council will contact other social entities to join the initiative. He affirmed that 'we stand with the workers,' stressing the need for administrations to improve existing funding and to present a unified voice to them.
Juan Franco thanked all participants for their constructive spirit and recalled the motions presented in the plenary session last June for the improvement of home help and disability services.
