The Civil Guard Command of Algeciras welcomed a group of final-year Law students from the University of Cádiz, who are currently undertaking internships at the Algeciras Area Prosecutor's Office. This visit, attended by several provincial prosecutors, including the Chief Area Prosecutor, Aurora Andrés Fernández, aims to introduce future legal professionals to the institutional environment where they will practice.
During the day, both students and prosecutors had the opportunity to observe firsthand the structure and daily activities of the Command. This initiative underscores the importance of strengthening collaboration and mutual understanding between the Civil Guard and the Prosecutor's Office, two fundamental pillars in the administration of justice and public safety.
Colonel Chief Fernando López-Rey received the delegation. He explained the strategic importance of the Campo de Gibraltar and detailed the internal organization of the force, as well as the main challenges facing the region. Among these challenges, he highlighted the fight against drug trafficking, tobacco smuggling, and irregular immigration, all crucial aspects for the area's security.
The visitors also toured various key facilities, such as the Operational Services Center (COS) and the Integrated External Surveillance System (SIVE). This part of the visit allowed them to gain a deep understanding of the functions and operational capabilities of these systems, which are essential for the Civil Guard's work in protecting the territory.
