“"For the first time in the City Council of Andújar, the challenge of creating specific positions for people with psychic and physical disabilities is set. We believe that everyone can perform adequate functions within the administration and that public institutions should be an example in generating opportunities."

The City Council of Andújar has completed a pioneering process in the province of Jaén with the incorporation of four municipal workers, reserving specific positions for individuals with psychic and physical disabilities through adapted selection tests.
This milestone in labor inclusion is materialized with the hiring of four individuals, two of whom were specifically for profiles with psychic disabilities and the other two for physical disabilities. This initiative represents 50% of the public employment offer reserved for people with disabilities, consolidating a model that recognizes the diversity of abilities.
Unlike the usual model in public administrations, where disability positions are often generic, the council of Andújar has developed a differentiated process. This process adapts both the selection tests and the required profiles to the specific capabilities of each candidate, responding to a historical demand from the group and entities like APROMPSI.
Mayor Francisco Carmona highlighted that the initiative stems from the conviction of offering equal opportunities in access to public employment. He emphasized that this action responds to a demand from APROMPSI and families of people with intellectual disabilities, aiming for all individuals to develop a life and future project.
APROMPSI considers this step one of the most significant advancements in labor inclusion in the province, as it is the first model to differentiate between physical and psychic disability within the same public employment offer, ensuring adapted processes. The entity's president, Ana Quiles, thanked the governing team for their willingness to make this initiative possible, which had not materialized in previous legislatures or other municipalities.
The four new municipal employees have successfully passed a selection process specifically designed for these positions, placing Andújar at the forefront of inclusive employment policies in the province of Jaén.
