The reopening of this route, long-awaited by thousands of drivers, residents, and workers, will help decongest one of the municipality's busiest traffic points. During the closure, traffic was concentrated on the main access through the La Molineta neighborhood, leading to frequent queues during peak hours.
The mayor of Huércal-Overa, Domingo Fernández, acknowledged in a previous interview that the situation had caused "significant inconveniences for traffic" and that the reopening addresses a citizen "demand" to improve mobility.
This measure will redistribute traffic among the different access points to the town, enhancing fluidity for both residents and visitors. However, the mayor reminded that the works are not yet fully completed. The roundabout has received provisional acceptance, but construction will continue until its final completion, scheduled for late September.
The City Council has urged drivers to exercise extreme caution and respect the provisional signage, as work continues in the surrounding area. The project has altered the appearance of the southern entrance, improving visibility and access to the Parque Sur and the Parque de la Vida.
