The National Police has apprehended two individuals, aged 39 and 59, in El Puerto de Santa María. They are accused of drug trafficking, assault on an authority agent, and endangering road safety. The events unfolded after a pursuit that covered the A-4 highway and the urban area of Puerto Real, culminating in the confiscation of 200 grams of cocaine.
The operation began in February as part of an investigation into a suspect known to officers, who was allegedly involved in distributing narcotics in the area. During these inquiries, investigators identified a vehicle that became the primary target.
When officers attempted to stop the car using acoustic and visual signals, the driver ignored the commands. According to the police report, he made an abrupt 180-degree turn at a roundabout and collided head-on with a police car in an attempt to evade interception.
The pursuit extended along the A-4 and continued through the streets of Puerto Real, ending in an estuary area in the Valvanera scattered settlement. During the escape, the co-driver threw a pink plastic bag out the window, which, once recovered by officers, contained the illicit substance.
“"The driving carried out by the suspect posed a risk to the integrity of pedestrians and other drivers, as well as to the agents participating in the operation."
Following their arrest, both men were brought before a judge, and the competent judicial authority ordered their provisional imprisonment. This operation is part of the National Police's efforts to combat drug trafficking in the Bay of Cádiz.
