The 32nd Juan de la Cosa Regatta concluded this Friday with a maximum equality finish, where 'Brujo' had to perform at its best in the three races held to secure its triumph against a very competitive fleet.
The decisive day featured two races: a windward/leeward course and a demanding 10-mile coastal course. Both were sailed with westerly winds of around 10 knots, which increased during the coastal race, offering optimal sailing conditions.
The outcome was extremely tight. In the penultimate race, 'Sálvora', skippered by Pedro Agudo and Sergio Llorca, beat 'Brujo' by just 15 seconds, leaving both boats tied at the top of the general classification before the final race.
In the final race, 'Brujo' demonstrated its strength, winning the race and resolving the tie in its favor. 'Sálvora' finished fourth in this leg, securing them second place overall, while 'Agapantux', skippered by Diego Gálvez and Pablo Villar, completed the podium after a great comeback.
Equality also marked the class classifications, with several ties decided by minimal margins. In Class 1, 'Eagle III' tied on points with 'Mar Amigo'. In Class 2, 'Solerig VI' emerged victorious ahead of 'Agapantux'. 'Brujo' also won Class 3, and 'Vindio' took Class 4.
The Circuito class witnessed an exciting comeback by 'Ebro Navea', skippered by Arturo Montes, who was crowned the final winner. The regatta was attended by Ana Mestre, president of the Andalusian Parliament, who closely followed the decisive day.
With the 32nd Juan de la Cosa Regatta concluded, the fleet now prepares for the 55th Sailing Week of El Puerto de Santa María, which begins this Saturday.
