The cultural program at the Real Teatro de las Cortes continued last Saturday with the staging of The Truth. This comedy, written by French playwright Florian Zeller, delves into infidelity and the complexities of romantic relationships, gracing the main island stage under the direction of Juan Carlos Fisher.
The performance featured a popular actor, screenwriter, and comedian in the leading role. The play's plot revolves around an intriguing game of lies, where four characters manipulate, deceive, and twist the truth to their advantage. The cast also included Natalie Pinot, Raúl Jiménez, and Alicia Rubio.
The theater season will continue next Saturday, May 9, with the performance of Dangerous Liaisons, directed by David Serrano. This outstanding play by Christopher Hampton is based on the eponymous novel by Choderlos de Laclos and has only been performed once in Madrid. The cast will feature Roberto Enríquez, Pilar Castro, Ángela Cremonte, Carmen Balagué, Ivan Lapadula, and Lucía Caraballo, in a production by Producciones Come y calla.
Although the original novel was published in 1782, its themes remain highly relevant today, addressing issues such as abuse of power, consent, and the unfortunate influence of money in contemporary society. Tickets for this performance are available through the island theater's website.
