The ongoing works will affect four escalators at Puerto Real station, one of the busiest stops on the Cádiz Commuter Rail service. TKE, the company responsible for maintaining Renfe's lifting equipment, is carrying out this intervention.
The renovation's primary goal is to update the escalators' mechanisms and components to reduce incidents and optimize their performance. Although specific phases of the work have not been detailed, the estimated three-and-a-half-month execution period may lead to occasional disruptions in the usual use of these accesses.
“"The renovation will allow for the updating of escalator mechanisms and components to reduce incidents and improve performance."
In addition to the modernization in Puerto Real, Renfe is also undertaking a repair of the down escalator in the lobby of El Puerto de Santa María station. This action has a budget of 87,145 euros and aims to restore the equipment's operation, with no specified completion dates.
Escalators and other lifting systems are crucial for ensuring accessibility in stations, especially for people with reduced mobility, the elderly, or users with strollers or luggage. Prolonged disruptions to these devices often lead to complaints from travelers as they limit accessible routes within the facilities.
With these interventions, Renfe continues its maintenance and improvement plan for the stations of the Cádiz Commuter Rail network, a vital system for rail mobility in the Bay that connects thousands of users daily.
