Extinguishing efforts for the fire declared last Thursday in Niebla, Huelva province, continued through the night. Despite difficulties caused by wind and its changing directions, a brief nocturnal respite allowed Infoca and UME personnel to advance defense efforts on the northern and eastern fronts.
Heavy machinery, including about ten bulldozers, was used overnight, along with technical fire operations to reinforce the defense strategy in the northern area. The priority was to prevent flames from reaching populated areas. So far, approximately 500 people have been evacuated, a figure that could rise depending on the fire's evolution, as several municipalities are on alert.
The Town Hall of El Madroño, in Seville province, has asked its residents to prepare essential belongings and has requested vacationers to leave the town calmly and in an orderly manner. Starting at 9:00 AM, aerial resources began joining the operation to assist in extinguishing tasks.
The fire has already scorched over 8,000 hectares and has a perimeter of 50 kilometers. Weather conditions for Monday are not expected to be favorable, with winds and high temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius. More than 600 people are working on the extinction, a contingent that will remain as long as necessary, according to authorities present at the command post.
