The small and tranquil town of Benaocaz, in the Sierra de Cádiz, is preparing to celebrate its traditional Fair and Festivities, taking place from Wednesday, August 12 to Sunday, August 16. The City Council has designed a program that blends tradition, music, and community for residents and visitors.
The fair's inauguration will be led by Manu Martínez, presenter of Andaluces por el Mundo. Martínez will converse with locals who have built their professional lives outside of Benaocaz but maintain strong ties to the town. The Mayor is also expected to speak.
Bullfighting traditions will play a prominent role with the traditional Toro de Cuerda (Roped Bull) and the Toro Enmaromado (Tethered Bull) releases throughout the weekend. Music will liven up the Caseta Municipal with performances by artists such as María Carrasco, Rumba Canalla, Irene Martínez, Tierra de Cádiz, Sabor, ArKike, Salea, Mala Hora, Triocaz, the Orquesta Manhattan, and sets by José Castillo DJ.
The program includes events such as a tribute to the elderly, a votive mass in honor of Nuestro Padre Jesús Atado a la Columna, the lighting ceremony, the coronation of the Ladies and Queens, morning parades ('dianas'), children's activities like bull runs and water parties, community meals, and contests such as the 'Tirada al Búcaro' (a traditional throwing contest).
