To mark the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, the educational center brought together two of its former students, Francisco Manuel Rodríguez Sierra and Cristóbal González, to share their life and professional experiences with current students.
Francisco Manuel Rodríguez Sierra, a philologist and Doctor of Arabic Philology, is a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). His research focuses on modern Arabic literature and the translation of 'Don Quixote' into Arabic.
Meanwhile, Cristóbal González is a philologist and journalist with a master's degree in linguistics and marketing. He is known for his entrepreneurial spirit and for serving as curator of the 150th anniversary of Chiclana being granted city status.
Both former students discussed humanities, university, communication, vocation, and professional futures in an intimate session with the first-year Baccalaureate students, sharing reflections on their careers after attending the institute.

The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, accompanied by the delegate for Education, María José Batista, the center's director, Anabel Moreno, and the head of studies and councilor, Guillermo Sierra, attended the event. The mayor highlighted the special responsibility of the IES Poeta García Gutiérrez as the city's oldest institution with a strong tradition in promoting culture, emphasizing the value of these discussions for young people and the importance of a culture of effort.

The center's director, Anabel Moreno, stated that the inaugural talk aims to showcase the value of literature, thank the educational community that has passed through the center over its 60 years, and foster students' curiosity. She also requested patience from parents regarding class organization at the beginning of the term.
