Lolo Picardo, co-spokesperson for the AxSí Municipal Group, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the low attendance at the San Antón celebration. According to Picardo, this event is another example of a management model that prioritizes image over effectiveness, characterized by improvisation and a lack of planning.
“"It is the latest example of the consequences of an erratic management model, that of Ms. Cavada, based on window dressing and not on efficiency. It is another example of a way of governing that stems from improvisation, lack of planning, and the determination to use public funds to satisfy whims that are far from the real needs of the islanders."
The Andalusian councilor attributes this outcome to the decision to postpone the date of the festivity and the introduction of changes that, in his opinion, distorted the essence of a family tradition with over 30 years of roots. Picardo noted that the event's date was changed twice, breaking with a consolidated custom in the city.
Furthermore, AxSí has criticized that the 30,000 euro investment allocated for the event's setup, decoration, and production did not result in greater participation. The group regrets that the "new" San Antón registered fewer attendees and poorer results, despite the increased spending, which they consider an example of poor management rather than innovation.
Given this situation, AxSí has urged the municipal government to restore the original meaning of the festivity, respect its tradition in San Fernando, and act with greater rigor in planning and the use of public resources. The party concludes that the city needs serious, coherent, and effective management, rather than more costly and artificial events.
