The meeting, attended by the second vice-president of the Junta and Minister of Justice, Manuel Gavira, along with representatives from the APM's territorial sections, also addressed the high workload borne by some judicial bodies. The situation of the Social jurisdiction courts in Seville was specifically highlighted.
The APM expressed concern regarding the new Judicial Office model and the potential reduction in judges' capacity to organize their work. Jesús Manuel Madroñal Navarro, president of the APM's Western Territorial Section, emphasized the need to preserve judicial independence and the role of magistrates as interpreters of law and the Constitution.
For his part, Gavira linked judicial independence to sufficient resources, proposing bureaucracy reduction and improvements in human, material, and technological resources. He stated the intention to maintain continuous dialogue with judges to enhance coordination between the regional administration and judicial bodies, particularly concerning the launch of the Instance Courts.
Also present at the meeting were Antonio José Puntas Mata, vice-president of the APM's Western Territorial Section, María Amelia Lerdo de Tejada Pagonabarraga, its secretary, and Ana Verónica Álvarez Toro, a magistrate from the Civil Section of the Instance Court of Jaén.
The Junta anticipates that the new model will expedite judicial attention and reduce internal procedures. The APM, however, focused its observations on the impact of the new organization on the daily operations of the courts and the management capacity of judges and magistrates.
