Representatives of the collective, alongside residents and mayors from towns such as Porcuna, Lopera, and Martos, traveled to the Hospital de las Cinco Llagas in Seville to formally present the petition. The aim is for political parties to clearly state their position on this demand ahead of the upcoming regional elections, as explained by Francisco Javier Susín, a spokesperson for the platform.
The platform emphasizes that this is not a new demand, recalling numerous unfulfilled promises, including those made by the Popular Party, which currently leads the Andalusian Government. They insist they will not give up their efforts to transform the A-306 into a high-capacity road. This conversion would ensure that Córdoba and Jaén are no longer the only Andalusian capitals without a direct highway connection, thereby fostering development in the areas it traverses.
No citizen understands this intervention, and the Junta still doesn't see it, with the sole intention of continuing to waste public money on these types of projects on our road.
The collective criticizes the Junta de Andalucía's management, accusing it of “wasting public money” on what they describe as “botched jobs.” They cite an investment of nearly 18 million euros over 16 kilometers near Torredonjimeno, a project that, in their view, has made the road “more dangerous and much slower.” This work, completed in the summer of 2024, prompted the platform's creation following complaints from citizens in Porcuna and other municipalities.
The remodeling has restricted much of the stretch to 60 kilometers per hour due to new access and merge zones from service lanes, slowing down travel and leading many users to seek longer alternative routes. In response to the Ministry of Public Works' announcement of new remodeling projects for the remaining 42 kilometers, the platform demands that the conversion of the A-306 into a highway be included in the Andalusian Transport and Mobility Infrastructure Plan (PITMA) to ensure its implementation.
