The campaign, which will continue throughout November with new plantings progressively extending to other areas of the capital, was postponed from September due to high temperatures, considered unfavorable for this type of planting. This calendar change aims to promote the adaptation and growth of the plants.
The councilor for the Special Employment Center, José María Cano, reported that this initial action will renew and beautify various garden areas and planters in the center, where species such as pansies, calendulas, begonias, chrysanthemums, primulas, and euonymus, among other varieties adapted to this time of year, will be planted.
The teams from the Special Employment Center are currently working on preparing the green areas and planters to condition them. Among the spaces included in this first phase are the garden areas of Colón street and San Ildefonso square.
“"With this planting, we are going to update the image, we are going to beautify the city."
José María Cano highlighted that "with this planting, we are going to update the image, we are going to beautify the city." He also indicated that "in the last three years, more than 150 planters have been installed throughout the city, which we believe has updated and improved the environmental image of the capital."
The councilor announced that in the coming days, the Department of Environment will carry out a general planting throughout the city. As a novelty, San Ildefonso square will incorporate primulas and euonymus, a genus of shrub plants that will contribute to renewing the vegetation in this historic center enclave.
The campaign will continue in the coming weeks with new plant additions, as part of the maintenance and improvement efforts for urban green spaces, aiming to adapt ornamental vegetation to the autumn-winter season and keep the city's garden areas in good condition.
