The patient was attended by the 061 emergency services and transferred to Torrecárdenas hospital in cardiorespiratory arrest, with extreme heat identified as the primary cause of death. This man was one of the three heatstroke cases previously reported by the Regional Government of Andalusia.
The acting Minister of Health, Presidency, and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, had reported on the care provided to three individuals for heatstroke in healthcare centers in Almería, Córdoba, and Cádiz. Although a favorable outcome was initially hoped for, the life of the man treated in Almería could not be saved.
Data from the Regional Government of Andalusia indicates a severe impact of the current heatwave on health. Between May 11 and June 14, the public system managed 427 emergencies related to rising temperatures, with 130 requiring hospitalization and 297 treated in primary care.
“"Be careful and be prudent; heat-related illnesses are real and concerning, having a direct impact on the body."
The meteorological situation keeps the autonomous community on alert, with temperature forecasts exceeding 43 and 44 degrees Celsius in the Cordoban countryside and the Jaén region, activating orange and yellow alert levels in Seville, Málaga, Granada, and Almería.
