The incident occurred around 5:15 AM when a call alerted the 112 Emergency Service of Andalusia. A car had overturned near Calle Alta in Soportújar, trapping its occupants. A patrol from the Civil Guard post in Órgiva rushed to the scene, facing difficult terrain due to the steep slope, darkness, and dense vegetation.
A local resident, alerted by the sound of the accident, guided the officers to the vehicle. The car was in a critical state, suspended between thorny bushes and two young poplar trees that prevented it from sliding further down the ravine.
Officers confirmed the occupants were alive. One woman reported that her partner was unconscious, while their four-year-old son cried in fear inside. Given the urgency, a Civil Guard officer decided to break one of the car's windows, as the doors were damaged and could not be opened.
With the mother's help, the officer first managed to extract the child, bringing him to safety. He then rescued the woman after several difficult maneuvers. The man, 36, remained unconscious inside. The officer checked he was breathing and responded slightly to his name before waiting for medical services and two fire crews, who arrived around 6:15 AM.
Medical personnel and officers, with the assistance of another patrol from Órgiva and members of the Civil Guard Traffic Group from Motril, used hydraulic tools to cut the door and free the man. Due to access difficulties, the ambulance could not reach the site directly, so the man was transported about 300 meters by emergency services and agents. All occupants were eventually taken to a medical center in Órgiva.
