The Almería team, runner-up in Spain's First Category, faced C.P. Armintza-Vizcaya, the second-to-last placed team in Honor, vying for the last available spot. The match started promisingly for the Andalusians, who won the first game, Paleta Cuero, with a convincing 2-0.
Victory seemed within reach, as they only needed to win one game in the Pala Corta modality to secure promotion. However, Club Pelota Almería could not maintain their momentum and lost the second match 0-2, which, due to the point difference, prevented them from reaching the coveted División de Honor.
The season has been unimaginable for an Almería club, which fights every year with the Basque powerhouses, who have more squad depth, more resources, fewer kilometers to travel but no more enthusiasm than us.
Despite the bittersweet outcome, this has been the best season in the history of Club Pelota Almería and any other Andalusian club in the Herramienta discipline (Paleta Cuero/Pala Corta). The club, which competes annually with larger Basque teams, has shown great enthusiasm and determination.
With an eye on the next season, the team is preparing to continue fighting and put Almería on the map in this minority but historic sport. The club thanks its players for their great effort and the constant support of the Patronato Municipal de Deportes de Almería.
