The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has warned of the imminent arrival of a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) in the province of Almería, which will cause a drastic change in weather with rain, storms, and calima from Friday afternoon until Sunday, impacting all localities.
A trough is approaching Spain this weekend, marking a significant shift in weather conditions, described by Aemet as a transition "from summer to winter." This instability, originating from an isolated cold depression off the western Iberian coast, precedes the DANA that will affect Andalucía by the end of the week.
The effects of this isolated depression at high levels will begin to be felt in the province of Almería from Friday afternoon. The DANA, crossing the Alboran Sea, will bring rainfall that will not come alone; the calima already present in the Almerian territory will cause the precipitation to be accompanied by mud deposits.
According to Aemet's forecasts, all municipalities in the province of Almería will experience a high probability of precipitation throughout the weekend. Saturday is expected to bring a more pronounced meteorological change, with very cloudy skies and showers that could be accompanied by thunderstorms, inevitably leaving mud deposits across the province.
The probability of precipitation will range between 70% and 95% in the 103 Almerian localities. Municipalities such as Berja, El Ejido, Almería capital, Laujar de Andarax, Ohanes, Abla, Fiñana, Gérgal, Macael, Bacares, and Bayarque have a probability exceeding 90% of rain. On Sunday, the situation will remain similar, with a 75% to 90% chance of precipitation across much of the province, although this will decrease throughout the day, leading to a rain-free Monday, April 13, in Almería.
