Employees assert that this non-payment is not merely an administrative delay but a deliberate measure to intimidate them after they initiated actions to defend their labor rights.
The group of workers demands dignified conditions after 14 years of minimum wages, without recognition of seniority, and within a context of what they describe as "illegal assignments" of labor. The complaint highlights the precarious salaries and successive corporate subrogations that have characterized their employment relationship.
The selective non-payment not only falls under the serious infraction stipulated in Article 8.1 of the Law on Infractions and Sanctions in the Social Order, related to repeated non-payment and delays in due wages, but also affects the workers' right to defense in its aspect of indemnity guarantee, occurring precisely after they activated actions against the labor situation they have endured for years.
The workers, advised by lawyers Francisco Ruano and Javier Salvador, refused to sign a subrogation assumption document that, in their view, implied a loss of rights. Despite this, the company possesses all necessary information to process payments, including Social Security data and bank accounts.
This situation contrasts with recent statements from the Almería City Council, which on April 9 highlighted Alborán Golf's "best moment in its history," with an increase of nearly 4% in the first quarter of the year and a 25% rise in March's revenue compared to the same month in 2025. The councilor for the Popular Party, Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, stated that the course is consolidating itself as a "sports and tourism benchmark."
For the employees, the course's prosperity makes the non-payment of their wages even more incomprehensible. They believe that political responsibility lies directly with councilor Pérez de la Blanca, who, according to them, has not offered a solution despite workers enduring low wages for years, though they were at least paid on time.
The Caddie Master staff at Alborán Golf, who consider themselves the "front line of service" for the city's main golf facility, warn that the complaint to the Labor Inspectorate will not be their last action if their situation is not immediately regularized. They are considering other measures such as challenging the labor model applied to the service and collectively defending workers against any retaliation for exercising their rights.
