The Central Market of Almería has undergone an internal facelift thanks to the recent intervention by painter Santiago Picatoste and his team. They have completed an impressive 16-meter-long mural, symmetrically divided, offering a visual experience that transcends traditional public decoration.

This monumental work, composed of two-meter-high canvases, required over two and a half months of meticulous and passionate execution. Through a mixed technique combining acrylics and sprays, the team has managed to capture an urban narrative under the codes of hyper-aesthetic abstraction, imbuing the market with renewed energy that directly dialogues with the city's daily pulse.

The core of this piece is a deep exploration of color. Santiago Picatoste has designed a chromatic balance where the confrontation between warm and cool tones does not seek conflict, but rather a harmony that envelops the viewer. This proposal draws directly from the theories presented in the book The Psychology of Color, a work that has significantly influenced the Mallorcan artist's creative process.

This artistic initiative has been promoted by the Almería City Council and the Department of Tourism, who have committed to integrating high-level art into public spaces. The mural not only beautifies the Central Market but also acts as a powerful call to the public for the capital's next major cultural milestone: the opening of Espacio 2.

This new center is the result of an ambitious architectural reform that has successfully merged the emblematic buildings of the Almería Museum Art Center (CAMA) and the old Preventorio, creating a unique exhibition space in the province. The official inauguration of this venue, where Picatoste will headline the inaugural exhibition, will take place after the Andalusian elections, reaffirming Almería's role as a benchmark for modernity and cultural management in southern Spain.
