This initiative follows a series of criminal incidents that have caused significant concern among the inhabitants. While the exact time has not yet been set, the protest route is planned to go through the town's streets.
Tension in Cantillana escalated significantly after an event on Easter Sunday, when an individual broke into a grocery store and threatened the owner with a firearm. Despite being arrested by the Guardia Civil and brought before the courts in Lora del Río, the suspect was released on provisional liberty within hours, further fueling public discontent.
They rob us and remain free, we are afraid.
The situation worsened with an attempted mobile phone robbery targeting a minor, which led to unrest and forced the suspect to seek refuge in the local health center. Subsequently, another incident involved an alleged criminal stalking an elderly person, resulting in an assault and the suspect's hospitalization, who requested voluntary discharge the following day. The alleged perpetrators of these crimes are of Maghrebi origin.
The suspect's return to Cantillana, even wearing hospital pajamas, further enraged residents. That same day, five individuals filed complaints for various robberies. The Guardia Civil has arrested the alleged perpetrator of these crimes and has increased its presence in the town to prevent further disturbances.
Last Tuesday, a spontaneous gathering took place in front of the Town Hall, organized via social media, where dozens of residents convened to express their frustration and share their concerns with the media.
