The Las Gabias City Council has concluded reinforcement work on the six apartment blocks that were evacuated last Tuesday. As a next step, technical inspections have commenced to authorize the return of the approximately 600 residents who had to leave their homes as a precaution.
Throughout Friday, municipal technical teams, in collaboration with specialists from a structural engineering and construction company, are examining the proper execution of the reinforcement works and verifying the results of the actions taken. These evaluations will continue into the afternoon.
The completion of the reinforcement work represents significant progress towards restoring normality, although it does not imply immediate authorization for residents to return to their homes. The preventive evacuation will remain in effect until all technical assessments are concluded and it is confirmed that all necessary safety conditions are met.

The Mayor of Las Gabias, Meri Sádaba, emphasized that the council's priority remains the safety of the citizens. She stressed that while the goal is to facilitate the families' return to their homes, no permission will be granted until technicians certify that the return can be carried out with full safety guarantees.
