“"It is essential that the per-place price is updated to prevent the closure of these centers. In Pulianas, our Francisco Giner de los Ríos nursery school could see its continuity endangered, which would mean almost 90 children without schooling and the loss of ten jobs."

The Pulianas City Council has approved a motion to request the Junta de Andalucía to immediately update the per-place price in 0-3 year old nursery schools, in order to ensure their continuity and prevent center closures.
The initiative, promoted by the Socialist Municipal Group and approved in plenary session with the abstention of the PP, highlights the critical situation facing the sector. Since 2020, the per-place price has remained practically unchanged, despite significant increases in operating costs, including supplies, services, operations, and salaries.
This economic imbalance has pushed many companies to the brink of viability, even leading to the closure of some schools. The council has warned that the current price paid by the Junta does not cover real costs, compromising the sustainability of these educational centers.
The mayor, Jose Antonio Carranza, emphasized the urgency of the measure, highlighting that the closure of the Francisco Giner de los Ríos nursery school in Pulianas would leave nearly 90 children without schooling and result in the loss of ten jobs. Furthermore, Carranza pointed out that this problem is even more serious in rural areas, where the disappearance of these centers would deprive numerous families of an essential service for work-life balance, primarily affecting female employment.
Early childhood education centers also play an important social role, serving minors in vulnerable situations. Therefore, the municipal plenary has requested the Junta not only the immediate price update but also the implementation of periodic review mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of the service and the full recognition of the 0-3 age stage as an integral part of the Andalusian education system.
Carranza recalled the 750,000 euro investment made in the Pulianas nursery school, emphasizing the importance of ensuring its continuity. He concluded that it would be regrettable to see the school close, leaving many families without this essential service.
