Infoca Plan teams are battling a forest fire that started in two hotspots in the Barranco de San Jerónimo. The fire, declared around 5:10 PM this Monday, has been stabilized after the intervention of ground and air resources.
More than a dozen calls alerted the 112 Emergency Service of Andalusia. Initially, three helicopters, two water-carrying planes, and two fire engines were deployed, along with 34 firefighters and ground personnel. Full control of the flames is expected in the coming hours.
The flames spread rapidly from the scrubland area, generating a dense smoke column that alerted residents due to its proximity to a housing development. Residents attempted to extinguish the fire with their garden hoses while reinforcements arrived.
The deployment was expanded to include a semi-heavy helicopter, a commander, two ground-attack planes, two fire engines, and 34 firefighters. They were joined by personnel from the Granada North Fire Department, National Police, Civil Guard, and the Local Police of Jun. Sources from the Infoca Plan indicated that the work carried out so far has allowed progress in controlling the fire.
