The Public Works Agency has formalized the awarding of these contracts, aimed at ensuring the upkeep of current facilities and the future line extension. Acting Minister of Development, Rocío Díaz, highlighted that the new agreements "look to the future by including the new route" between Armilla, Churriana de la Vega, and Las Gabias.
The maintenance of civil works, ensuring the optimal conservation of the track platform, tunnels, stops, and stations, has been awarded to the company Construcciones Pérez Jiménez for 6.49 million euros. Meanwhile, the energy and electrification maintenance, which also includes elevators and escalators, will be carried out by the CAF group for 5.41 million euros.
These maintenance services are focused on guaranteeing user safety, reliability, and comfort. They include inspection, review, and repair of the infrastructure, as well as the supply of necessary materials and equipment. The energy system maintenance covers electrical substations, power supply lines, transformation centers, and the catenary along the entire line, including the future extension.
Additionally, support is provided for photovoltaic panels installed in various areas, such as building roofs and shelters, and the maintenance of electromechanical facilities, including 17 elevators and 18 escalators distributed along the route, is guaranteed.
The Regional Government of Andalucía has dimensioned these new contracts, which replace the previous ones, with greater coverage and leveraging acquired experience. The civil works for the Southern Extension, connecting Armilla, Churriana de la Vega, and Las Gabias, are practically complete.
