Several aftershocks from a magnitude 5 earthquake, with its epicenter in Alhendín, have shaken the province of Granada during the early hours of Saturday. The seismic event was strongly felt in the Nazarí capital and its metropolitan area.
Since 01:04 AM, Civil Guard officers have maintained an operation in towns such as Alhendín, Las Gabias, Churriana de la Vega, Armilla, Padul, Cúllar Vega, Gójar, La Zubia, Ogíjares, Huétor Vega, and Santa Fe.
Although no personal injuries have been reported, material damage to buildings and homes has been confirmed. Personnel have assisted in the preventive evacuation of some residences and treated individuals experiencing anxiety attacks, some due to difficulties exiting because of doors blocked by damage.
The operation involves Citizen Security patrols, personnel from the Command's Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) of Granada, and Traffic Group patrols. The Civil Guard remains deployed in the affected areas, responding to calls and coordinating with other emergency services.
