The National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported that the seismic event occurred at 04:10 AM on Monday. Due to its shallow nature, with a depth of zero kilometers, the tremor was widely felt by the population, who quickly shared their experiences on social media, describing noises and vibrations.
Despite being widely felt and prompting several calls to the 112 Andalucía Emergency Service, official sources confirmed that the earthquake caused no personal injuries or material damage, beyond the initial scare among residents.
The earthquake reached an intensity of III in municipalities close to Santa Fe, including Albolote, Armilla, Casas Bajas, Vegas del Genil, El Jau, El Ventorrillo, Cúllar Vega, Pulianillas, and Pulianas. With an intensity of III-II, the movement was also felt in Belicena, Cijuela, Las Gabias, La Zubia, Maracena, and Pinos Puente. In the capital, Granada, and other locations such as Ambroz, Atarfe, Beas de Granada, Chauchina, Churriana de la Vega, Híjar, Pedro Ruiz, and Purchil, the intensity was level II.
This seismic event follows another tremor in the province just a few days prior. On April 10, a 2.2 magnitude earthquake, also shallow, was recorded with its epicenter in Morelábor, in the Los Montes region.
