The investigation, which began following several reports filed between March 18 and 24, focused on the theft of cabling from AVE infrastructure and nurseries in the Almodóvar del Río area. Given the seriousness of these acts, which compromised both critical infrastructure and public safety, the Civil Guard deployed a surveillance operation through its ROCA team to identify those responsible.
Given the seriousness of the crimes, which compromise critical infrastructure and citizen safety, the Civil Guard launched a surveillance operation through its ROCA team to identify those responsible.
During one of these operations, officers received an alert about a robbery at a nearby home. Upon verifying the information, they located the suspects. One of them was identified as the alleged perpetrator of the cable thefts on the AVE tracks and was arrested while attempting to steal high-speed cabling again from the same previously affected section.
Days later, the Civil Guard proceeded to arrest the second person involved in the house robbery. These arrests have led to the clarification of a total of six robberies and other crimes related to the safety of critical infrastructure. Furthermore, part of the stolen material has been recovered, contributing to ensuring the safety of railway traffic.
The detainees and the corresponding proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which will continue the investigation to determine if more individuals are involved in these criminal acts.
