The young athlete from Villaviciosa de Córdoba has added another success to her record at the continental event, securing bronze in the solo modality. This achievement follows the gold medal she previously won in the individual event, highlighting her outstanding performance.
The competition, held at the Osijek shooting range, was marked by a morning of heavy rain. Despite the adverse weather conditions, Del Rey demonstrated great concentration to overcome her rivals, Greece's Rikou and Slovakia's Hobothova, in direct duels.
In the semifinals, the shooter from Córdoba faced Russia's Kira Papina (competing as an Independent Neutral Athlete). Despite a 7-3 loss, which prevented her from competing for gold, Del Rey secured the bronze medal.
After achieving this new medal, Irene del Rey will aim to round off her performance at the U18 European Championship in Osijek with a third medal, which she will seek in the mixed team event.
In the mixed team event, the shooter from Villaviciosa de Córdoba will partner with José Barrero, and both are considered favorites to reach the podium and conclude their championship participation with a trio of medals.
