The dance academy Mar de Rosas, run by two self-employed sisters in Alhaurín de la Torre, has suffered a theft affecting its essential work materials. Thieves forced the lock of the establishment's small door over the weekend, taking two of the three main speakers used for classes. They also destroyed the video surveillance camera and opened the cash registers, finding only a few coins which they scattered on the floor.
Rosa López, one of the owners, expressed her frustration: "We are workers, self-employed, we have been fighting for many years to fulfill our dream of a dance school; it has cost us a lot of effort and they have stolen our work material. What is a dance school without music?". The theft has been reported to the Guardia Civil.
The academy, celebrating its eighth anniversary in the town, was closed for a few days of vacation. It was the students who discovered the broken lock when they arrived to surprise the owners. Upon entering, they confirmed the missing speakers and the damage.
María del Mar, the other sister, estimates that the damage and the value of the stolen items exceed 1,500 euros, with each speaker costing around 500 euros. Now, the challenge is to have everything ready for September 1st, when classes resume. "We start in two weeks, we assume the insurance will cover everything," she noted.
Rosa recalled starting dance classes at 14 with three students, one of whom was her sister. "We have worked and fought so hard," she assured. Today, Mar de Rosas has over 300 students and describes itself as a "very family-oriented" academy.
The sisters have shared the news on social media, seeking help to identify the perpetrators. "They have stolen from us at @danzamarderosas. If anyone knows anything, please let us know. They have taken our work equipment!!", they posted, expressing their sadness and asking for cooperation.
“"It's not so much about the material... Some people have very little shame. They stole from us, we are workers... It hurts. But we have to fix it in these two weeks."
Despite the indignation, Rosa shows determination: "I am outraged by what they have done to us. But I have the floor, I have the mirror, and we will start again. We will not lack helping hands because there are always people who help us."
