The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) activated weather warnings on Wednesday across thirteen autonomous communities, highlighting the red level in the Valencian Community for temperatures up to 44 degrees Celsius and the orange level in five others for intense heat, storms, and rain.

The Valencian Community is the region most affected by the adverse weather, with the highest warning in effect from 1:00 PM. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 44 degrees Celsius on the southern Valencian coast and 43 on the northern coast, while the Alicante coast will see temperatures of 40 degrees.
Five other regions are under an orange alert for significant danger due to intense heat: Aragon, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, the Region of Murcia, and Catalonia. In the latter, the warning also includes the possibility of heavy rain and storms.
In Andalusia, the province of Almería will experience the highest temperatures, with forecasts of 40 degrees Celsius in the Almanzora and Los Vélez valleys, and 39 degrees in the eastern Almería region.
Aragon, particularly in southern Huesca and Bajo Aragón, will also face relentless heat, with thermometers reaching 40 degrees. In Castilla-La Mancha, Albacete will be the most affected province, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 39 degrees.
The situation in Catalonia is compounded, as extreme heat will be accompanied by rain and storms in areas like the Pyrenees, prelitoral, and Ampurdán in Girona. Rainfall of up to 20 liters per square meter per hour is expected, occasionally accompanied by strong wind gusts and hail.
The Region of Murcia is also on orange alert, with central points of intense heat, around 40 degrees Celsius, in areas such as the Guadalentín Valley, Lorca, Águilas, the northwest, and the Altiplano.
Additionally, Aemet has issued yellow level warnings (lower risk) in the Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Galicia, the Community of Madrid, Navarre, the Basque Country, and La Rioja. In most of these regions, the warnings pertain to high temperatures, except in Castilla y León, where heavy rain and storms are anticipated in the province of León, with accumulations of up to 15 liters per square meter and strong gusts and hail.
