Last Saturday, the municipality of Macael became the epicenter of mountain biking with the celebration of the VI Amigos Sierra de los Filabres Half Marathon. This event, part of the Almería provincial BTT circuit, attracted approximately 130 participants under optimal weather conditions for sports.
The 43.5-kilometer course presented a significant challenge for the cyclists. In the men's category, a competitor from C.D. Vellsam Team managed to pull away from his rivals at kilometer 20, securing a convincing victory. Second place went to a cyclist from C.C. Oxygenbike Team, who arrived almost six minutes later, while a teammate of the winner completed the podium.
In the women's competition, a cyclist from C.D. Vellsan Team faced a tough battle against a rival from C.C. Oxygenbike Team. The fight for first place remained intense until the final stages, ultimately decided in favor of the former. Third place went to a clubmate of the second-place finisher.
The event was attended by local authorities, including the mayor of Macael and several councilors, who were present to support the sporting event. The next race in this competition will be the XI Huercalovers Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, April 26, in Huércal de Almería.
