The fire started around 2:30 PM on Saturday in the municipality of Rute, quickly mobilizing local security devices and the Andalusian anti-fire operational team. Initially, 44 ground personnel and a significant air deployment, including helicopters and water-carrying and amphibious aircraft, were deployed.
The fire's evolution led to an expansion of the operation around 4:30 PM, increasing ground resources to 70 personnel, two fire engines, and a Medical Unit for support. A 24-year-old firefighter suffered a shoulder dislocation and was transferred to the Hospital de Cabra. The initial containment involved the Local Police, the Civil Guard, and firefighters from the Provincial Consortium.
Around 5:50 PM, Infoca declared the fire stabilized, with teams working to extinguish the remaining flames. The total affected area is still unknown, although local residents estimate at least 200 hectares. During the peak of the incident, a road was temporarily closed.
The fire was located near the refuge of the Association for the Defense of the Donkey (Adebo), founded in Rute in 1989 by Pascual Rovira. Fortunately, the animals present were not evacuated and suffered no harm. Pascual Rovira confirmed that the fire stopped about 100 meters from his farm, without affecting his facilities.
Rovira lamented that the numerous trees felled by storms earlier in the year, along with abundant vegetation, acted as fuel, facilitating the fire's spread.
