The extraordinary session of the Priego de Córdoba City Council approved a 300,000 euro loan for Aguas de Priego, but two other matters were postponed due to a lack of an absolute majority.

The Municipal Corporation of Priego de Córdoba has given the green light to one of the three financial dossiers concerning Aguas de Priego during an extraordinary plenary session. However, the other two were postponed as they did not secure the necessary absolute majority for approval.
The first approved expediente, identified as 19.529, formalized a loan of 300,000 euros with BBVA, signed on June 19th. This operation, intended to finance municipal company investments, has a seven-year repayment term and does not require any guarantee or commitment from the City Council. As explained during the session, the funds facilitated payments linked to the PERTE project and other investments, including the renewal of the outfall and the future replacement of the network in Zagrilla Baja. The PSOE voted against it, questioning the loan's prior formalization before its presentation to the Council, while the PP voted in favor, thus achieving its approval.
The remaining two dossiers were debated jointly but voted on separately. The first proposed authorizing Aguas de Priego to formalize a loan of up to 2.41 million euros with Unicaja to cancel its outstanding debt with Aqualia. The second dossier involved the municipal guarantee required to secure this operation. This loan was proposed with a 15-year term, featuring 60 quarterly payments and a variable interest rate of Euribor plus 0.29 points. The initial quarterly payment would decrease from approximately 70,489 to 48,815 euros, according to the dossier.
Both the PSOE and the PP voted in favor of these last two dossiers. However, the ten votes from the PP did not reach the absolute majority of 11 councilors needed for their approval, leading to their postponement.
The session was marked by the absence of several councilors, including the mayor Juan Ramón Valdivia, several PP and PSOE councilors, as well as the spokespersons for IU and Vox. Antonio Navas served as acting mayor during the proceedings.
The City Council has scheduled a new extraordinary plenary session for Friday at 09:00 AM to revisit the pending dossiers.
