The Historical Novel Conference of Lucena reaches its third edition, backed by the success of the previous two events which were completely sold out and established the conference as a benchmark for literature and history enthusiasts. The Councillor for Culture of the Ayuntamiento de Lucena, Francisco Barbancho, presented the new edition alongside the conference coordinator, historian and writer José Calvo Poyato. Both highlighted the collaboration of the Delegation of Culture and the Municipal Public Library in creating a program that brings together prominent national authors.
Francisco Barbancho and José Calvo Poyato encouraged citizens to mark October 8th and 9th on their calendars, expressing confidence in repeating the high participation seen in previous editions. The conference will be held in the entrepatios hall of the Casa de los Mora, with free entry until full capacity.
The program will begin on Thursday, October 8th, at 6:30 PM with the official inauguration. At 7:00 PM, psychologist and writer Mario Villén Lucena will give a lecture titled 'El elegido, un thriller en la Alhambra'. The author, a specialist in medieval Granada, will address the turbulent period of the Nasrid sultanate through the intrigues in his novel. At 8:00 PM, José Calvo Poyato will present his new novel, 'El imperio en la tormenta', set to be released on September 30th, after delivering a lecture titled 'La mal llamada Invencible y la contra armada inglesa', focusing on Philip II's Great Armada and the English expedition.
The second session, on Friday, October 9th, will start at 7:00 PM with Sandra Aza, a lawyer and writer, who will deliver a lecture on 'Verdades y mitos de la Inquisición Española' (Truths and Myths of the Spanish Inquisition). The author will explore the Inquisition from the perspective of documentation and historical recreation. At 8:00 PM, the program will conclude with journalist and writer Javier Sierra, winner of the Premio Planeta, presenting 'Secretos olvidados de los grandes maestros del arte' (Forgotten Secrets of the Great Masters of Art), an exploration of the messages, details, and enigmas hidden within some of the most famous works in the Prado Museum, aligning with the content of his book 'El plan maestro'. All lectures will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
