These interventions, carried out both during the school year and particularly over the summer period, address the needs communicated by the schools' management teams. The municipal investment has focused on five main areas: structural improvements, general center maintenance, rehabilitation of playgrounds and sports courts, electrical system upgrades, and air conditioning enhancements.
In the structural improvements category, €34,305 has been invested. Works included enclosing the covered patio and replacing interior windows at CEIP Barahona de Soto; installing supports for awnings and enclosing the covered court at CEIP San José de Calasanz; placing an awning in a nursery classroom at CEIP Al-Yussana; and installing blinds in the auditorium of CEIP San Francisco de las Navas.
The budget for center maintenance amounts to €51,004, with actions such as repairing doors and fences at El Prado and Antonio Machado schools, improvements to the exterior surroundings of the latter, and work on the floor of the north primary building at CEIP Virgen de Araceli. Perimeter grilles on the courts of CEIP Valle have also been replaced, and exterior grilles installed to prevent pigeons entering CEIP El Carmen.
The rehabilitation of playgrounds and sports courts received an allocation of €71,801, benefiting El Carmen, Al-Yussana, and El Prado schools. Meanwhile, improvements to electrical installations involved an investment of €48,592, aimed at reinforcing lines for air conditioning units and interventions at the Virgen de Araceli and Antonio Machado centers.
Air conditioning required an investment of €33,168.20, with the installation of new units in eight classrooms at CEIP Antonio Machado, one classroom at CEIP San José de Calasanz, another at CEIP Barahona, four classrooms at CEIP El Prado, and three units for the gymnasium at the educational center in Las Navas, including the corresponding electrical installation.
The mayor of Lucena highlighted that the municipal planning is based on 'active listening' to management teams and considers criteria such as building age, safety, major works, and air conditioning needs. He emphasized the commitment to ensure all educational centers, both in the city and its villages, receive annual interventions tailored to their specific requirements.
These investments are complemented by the routine maintenance carried out by the Operational Services during the summer, including painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and repair of damages from daily use. The Lucena City Council expressed gratitude for the work of all involved municipal staff, the collaboration of management teams, and the entire educational community, reaffirming the commitment to continue addressing the centers' needs.
