The 19th Lucena Livestock Fair will take place this Sunday in the vicinity of the old station, a traditional event linked to the Feria Real de Ntra. Sra. del Valle. The event, promoted by the Lucena Equestrian Society with support from the municipal departments of Agriculture and Festivals, will gather professionals and enthusiasts of the equestrian world. Animals are expected from the local region, the province of Córdoba, and beyond. The presentation included Councillor for Agriculture, Javier Pineda, Councillor for Festivals, Araceli Rodríguez, and members of the organizing society.
The program features an animal exhibition and awards ceremony for the best specimens, judged by a specialized panel and a veterinarian. The first 80 horses entering the venue will receive a 10 euro reward per head. Prizes of 100 and 50 euros will be awarded for the best horses, mules, and donkeys, while the pony category will offer 70 and 30 euros for first and second place, respectively. Recognition will also be given to the best-dressed riders, the oldest participant, and the youngest.
The fair will also showcase traditional agricultural tasks linked to animal work, such as threshing, helping to preserve a heritage of traditions that is becoming increasingly rare. The organization particularly encourages families to attend in the morning to see the animals up close and enjoy an activity combining community, tradition, and education.
The Parade of Carriages and Horses will run from Wednesday to Saturday, between 14:00 and 20:00, following a route agreed upon by the Lucena Equestrian Society, the City Council, and the Security Forces.
Councillors Javier Pineda and Araceli Rodríguez emphasized the continuity of this event within the Feria del Valle program and its role in keeping equestrian and livestock traditions alive. The City Council and the Lucena Equestrian Society urge citizens, especially families, to participate, reminding attendees to use authorized parking areas to facilitate the entry and exit of livestock vehicles and ensure the smooth running of the activity.
