The delegate for Health of the Ayuntamiento de Cabra, Rosi Lama, along with family and community nurse Manuel Cabezas and the Nursing Coordinator of the Health Center, Charo Priego, have presented the vaccination campaign for the 2026-2027 season. The objective is to reduce severe complications and hospitalizations associated with respiratory infections.
The campaign began on October 1 for children aged six to 59 months and other priority groups. On October 7, individuals aged 80 and over were included, and on October 14, those aged 70 and over and adults with chronic conditions. Starting October 21, vaccination is open to individuals aged 60 and over.
A special call is made to individuals between 60 and 64 years old, a group with lower participation in flu vaccination. Those living with and caring for individuals over 60, the severely dependent, patients with chronic illnesses, children under five, and pregnant women or those in the first six months postpartum can also get vaccinated.
For children, specific sessions have been organized on October 20 and 21, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, for children aged six months to two years and eleven months not covered by school vaccination. Vaccination for children under two, three, and four years old may be administered intranasally, without a needle, when indicated.
As a new development, the use of the high-antigenic load flu vaccine is extended from age 75, in addition to its administration to institutionalized individuals aged 60 and over.
Appointments can be requested through ClicSalud+, the Salud Andalucía and Salud Responde apps, by calling 955 54 50 60, or directly at the health center. Furthermore, starting November 11, walk-in vaccination sessions will be held on Wednesdays.
During the campaign, nursing staff will also review each patient's vaccination status to update protection against pneumococcus and shingles. The importance of immunization against the respiratory syncytial virus in infants included in the campaign is also recalled.
