The main problems occurred on Saturday, particularly between 4:07 PM and 8:30 PM, when emergency services received a large number of calls, mostly related to the heavy rains that dropped nearly thirty liters per square meter in half an hour.
Among the most notable incidents were the displacement of trash containers swept away by the water and several flooded homes on San José, Santa Teresa de Jesús, and Francisco Piquer streets. There were also manhole covers lifted in streets such as Molino Alarcón, Almendra, Córdoba, or Santa Cecilia, in addition to water accumulation in areas like Virgen de la Paz street, which had to be closed for approximately an hour.
The double roundabout providing access to the city via the ring road and Andrés Aguilar Gracián street accumulated gravel and mud on the roadway, requiring the collaboration of the public cleaning company (Soliarsa), the Provincial Firefighters Consortium in Ronda, the road maintenance team, and the Civil Guard for its resolution.
Assistance was provided to a 63-year-old man who suffered a fractured elbow after falling at the intersection of Sevilla and San José streets, and was transferred to the Serranía Hospital. Other incidents included a fire on Marcos de Obregón street and a traffic accident in Olivar de las Monjas with one injured person.
The intense rain also caused a lamppost to fall on Alcalá del Valle street, a gutter detachment on Sevilla street, and the fall of several branches, particularly on Avenida de Málaga, damaging a parked vehicle. A tree also fell on La Madre street.
On Sunday, despite the orange alert, there was only a brief episode of intense rain that flooded some streets and required minor interventions on a gutter in Sevilla street and a lamppost in Alcalá del Valle street. Throughout the entire weekend, from Friday afternoon to Monday morning, five traffic accidents were attended to, none of them serious.
The municipal official reminded citizens that the alert remains active and urged caution due to the possibility of further intense rain and storm episodes, with the city's emergency services remaining attentive to any developing circumstances.
